.

I

TO:

Parks and Recreation Committee Members

Kim Stephan yP

FROM:

SUBJECT:

Updates

DATE:

Aprill, 2005

Hunters Crossine: 3rd Addition

Mr. Rick Carlson has asked to make an appearance at the Parks & Recreation Committee Meeting to
present his modified proposal for Hunters Crossing 3rd Addition. The original plan was to have 36
homes in the 2nd Addition and 37 homes in the 3rd Addition. The modification will be 44 homes
instead of the original 37 homes in the 3rd Addition. The Park Dedication Fees are $3,000 per lot.
The existing trail on the west side of the development will be extended per the existing Developer's
Agreement for Hunters Crossing 2nd Addition, Phase 1.

Adopt a Flowerbed

There are five (5) city parks with flowerbeds surrounding the monument sign to each park. In both
2003 & 2004 Parks & Recreation Committee Members, City Staff & Residents have adopted these
flower beds; planting, weeding, fertilizing & mulching. The following memo to City Council dated
April 9, 2004 was approved.

SUBJECT: Parks and Recreation Committee Recommendation
Monument Sign.\'/Flower Beds in City Parks

The monument signsljlower beds in each ~f the five (5) city parks has needed attention the last few
years and with limited staff time available, the planting and weeding (?f these flower beds was done by
volunteers in the 2003 summer season. Perennials were donated to be planted in each bed and
residentslcommittee members did the planting and weeding. The volunteers are still willing to
continue with this project, but the beds really need additional work this year. The committee would
like to request fund') not to exceed $50 per parkljlower bed to purchase supplies such as plants,
fertilizer, top soil & mulch. The committee feels these funds should not be taken from the Parks &
Recreation Committee's budget, but rather from the Park Maintenance Fund.

Motion was made by Chairperson Peterson, seconded by Committee Member Lindsay, to request
funds not to exceed $50 per park/flower bed to purchase supplies such as plants, fertilizer, top soil &
mulch with funds from the Park Maintenance Fund All in favor. Motion carried unanimously.

10f2
