This is 0 newly revised and visionary <br />park system plan for the seven county metropolitan area. The plan will be implemented by the 10 regional agencies who <br />manage the regional pork system, which includes Anoka County. <br /> <br />I am forwarding to you from the Metropolitan Council the enclosed "Regional Park System Statement" sheet which outlines <br />the existing regional parks and trails in your community, and any future plans for additions or changes to the regional system <br />that might affect your local planning process. This information comes directly from the new 2030 Regional Parks Policy Plan. <br /> <br />As you might be aware, the Anoka County Parks and Recreation Deportment has also been revising the comprehensive county <br />pork system plan. The plan is scheduled for County Board approval In January 2006. The county is updating its park system <br />plan to be consistent with the Regional Park Policy Plan. To that end, the county has been working closely with the <br />Metropolitan Council in defining future trail and park needs in Anoka County. <br /> <br />In accordance with Section 473.864 of the Metropolitan Land Planning Act, all metropolitan area cities must review and <br />amend their local comprehensive plans to conform to metropolitall system plans including the Metropolitan Regional Parks <br />Policy Plan. The enclosed Park System Statement is intended to assist you in identifying and incorporating the appropriate <br />regional park and trail plans into your comprehensive land planning process. <br /> <br />Please tRke a moment to review the materials and forward them to the appropriate staff person in your organization.
