RecommendAtion for Con4illlltant l\pgoint1nent Associated with the <br />Update ofb City's r.nnuF".hen.cive Plan <br /> <br />CounciImember Lee reported that the PI3nning and Zoning Subcommittee interviewed <br />three organizations. He commented that two of the three were very comparable in price <br />and that one oqpmi7#ion consisted of a two-person staff that is cummtly working with <br />appro,nmvely IS other cities with the same timeline. He stated that the sub-committee <br />unanimously agreed to recommend DSUJBonestroo as the CODSUItatat due to their current <br />involvement with the City as their engineering firm. <br /> <br />CounciImember Broussard stated that the PI3nnirtg and Zoning Commiuion discussed <br />this at length and she was surprised at the associated costs for what she understood to be <br />an update rather than a complete rewrite of the Com.p Plan. CounciImember Broussard <br />stated that it was difficult to justify the cost difference. She stated that a decision was <br />made to have an additional interview with Bonestroo allowing them reconsideration of <br />the project and the associated expenses. It was felt that this would bring <br />DSU/Bone$tluO's proposal more in line with the other proposals. <br /> <br />CounciImember Lee explained there should be enough meetings to make sure the <br />community has an opportunity to provide feedback. He stated the proposal aJII01~JIt was <br />discussed at length and due to DSUlBonestroo's knowledge of the communityj he is <br />comfortable with the recommendation. <br /> <br />CounciImember Lakso questionecl the publishing of the Request for Bids. <br />City Administrator Larson stated that firms were invited to participate rather than <br />publishing the requests. <br /> <br />CounciImember Broussard stated the Planning and Zoning Commission discussed the <br />changes to the comprehensive plan or a mix of conmi.ercialfmdustria1 zoning, but overall <br />the current plan would not change drastically. <br /> <br />City Engineer Statz commented that everyone agreed 011 the scope and fees going <br />forward, would look at it as the kickoff meeting, and move forward from there. He stated <br />if an agreement were not reached, the next step wou1d be planned. <br /> <br />City Administrator Larson explained that the DSUIBuua&oo consultant wou1d come <br />back after that meeting with a revised proposal and scope of work for approval <br /> <br />Mayor Capra stated that she desires staft"to forward thank you letters to the subcommittee <br />members and firms that submitted proposals. <br /> <br />PageSofl0 <br /> <br />5 <br />
