John VonDeI.Jnde Anoka County Parks Is Cleaning Up The Maintenance Unit has recently switched the cleaning products program. In keeping in line with the mission of environmental stewardship, the new products are much more environmentally friendly and cost effective as well.. The product line is Enviro Solutions. Some of the benefits include: The organic ingredients are all biodegradable in their diluted states. Naturally based renewable ingredients are used where possible. The products are considered non-toxic at their dilutes states. The products are recognized as acute to toxicity standards for fish and invertebrates. Highly concentrated product and proper dilution saves time, waste, usage, and packaging. Approximately 80% is saved in waste. The dispensers allow for more accurate dilution. The color-coded system assures accuracy and the wall mounted dispensers are designed for efficiency meaning fewer spills and splashes. All locations within the system will be standardized for ease of use by all staff. Products are available for windows, floors, toilets, and general disinfecting and cleaning. Tests have shown the Enviro Solutions are comparable to other commercial products in effectiveness. The product line is available through the State Purchasing Contract from a local vendor. The Maintenance Unit is pleased to incorporate the mission of the Parks and Recreation Department into the daily operation. .. Seasonal Employee Recruitment Update Seasonal Employee Recruitment has been going very well for the Parks and Recreation Department in" 2002 and it is expected that the department will fully satisfy its summer employment needs in early May. This is the first-time we have accomplished this since initiating a deparbnent-wide recruitment process in 1996. While we have diversified our job recruitment methodology, a lot of the sucaiss of this year's recruitment is due to a weakened state and national economy, resulting in fewer summer jobs. Currently we have enough employees and appUcations for the Bunker Hills Wave Pool and we are not accepting any more applications in this area. We are 90% full for seasonal positions for Park Maintenance, Swimming Beaches, Chomonix Golf Course, and Gate Attendants. We are still looking for experiencecl maintenance personnel, experienced lifeguards for our swimming beaches in Columbus, Uno Lakes, and Oak Grove, and Starter Rangers for Chomonix Golf Course. We still have a need for Park Rangers, especially experienced Iaw-enforcement persons. We are not accepting applications for the Wargo Nature Center or for students under 16 years of age. .
