<br /> <br />Week in Review <br />July 9, 2002 <br /> <br />Skate Park Ouen. Attendants are on duty from 4:00 - 8:00 p.rn. Also, with the Wheels Park: being <br />opened, Staff is reporting that there are increased incidents of vandalism and destruction to park <br />equipment. While Wheels Park was developed for the enjoyment of skateboard and roller blade <br />enthmliaq and is a very popular park, vandalilml and destruction of park equipment increases the cost of <br />keeping it open. Staff is ~dcin8 that anyone' witnessing this kind of destruction, to please ca.1l 9-1-1 or <br />contact City Hall. <br /> <br />NEMO lNonooint Education for MUDi.cioal Ofticialsl Presentation. Staff from the Rice Creek <br />Watershed district presented information regarding non-point source pollution to the City Council and the <br />Planning and Zoning during the monthly Planning and Zoning Commission meeting. Jay Michaels <br />discussed the relationship of land use to water quality. He also provided information on what non-point <br />source pollution is, where it comes from and how to control it. They presented various techniques that are <br />used to control storm water nmoff; spring thaw nmoff and ways to reduce impervious S1.1IfBces while still <br />achieving the goals of a development project. Mr. Michaels's presentation will contribute to the <br />information that City Staff is working with in their effort to compile an updated City Surface <br />Management and Stormwater Plan. The Public Works Director indicated that Phase n of the Surface <br />Management and Storm. water Plan bas to be in place by December of2oo3. <br /> <br />City to Uodate Liauor Ord~.nce. <br />The City Council has worked with Staffand liquor establisbment owners in updating the City's liquor <br />ordinance. Work: began in late winter and is culminating this month with the review of the proposed <br />updated liquor ordinance. This item will be scheduled for discussion and public input during the two <br />Council meetings in July. It is anticipated that a public hearing will be held sometime in August, with <br />Council approval of the final draft of the ordinance due sometime after that time. <br /> <br />Construction Uodate.
