City of Centerville
Council Meeting Minutes
May 9, 2007

2.Replacement of Public Works Vehicles.

City Administrator Larson explained that Council authorized a shorter rotation cycle on
the Public Works vehicles. He stated that the cost for owning the trucks for one year was
about $2,000 per vehicle. He explained that this was too short of a timeframe and
decided to look at two years. City Administrator Larson commented that the State
requires new vehicles to be flexible fuel vehicles. He stated that to trade in the older
vehicles, a cost of $6,000 per vehicle would be incurred or $3,000 per year of ownership
per truck. He explained the goal is to minimize the cost of ownership.

Discussion ensued.

Motion by Council Member Broussard, seconded by Council Member Paar, to
order the replacement of new Public Works vehicles per the information provided
by the Public Works Director to reduce the cost of ownership. All in favor. Motion
carried unanimously.

3.Bonestroo Proposal for Planning 2009 Street Improvements - $42,000 Budget

City Administrator Larson explained that the Council discussed the 2009 Street
Improvements and scenarios on how to involve the public. He suggested bringing the
public in for an open house for comments in the fall with the intention of beginning the
improvements in 2009. He stated that it is beneficial to give residents the information
and early notices before all the decisions are made and finalized.

Councilmember Paar agreed and stated that he desired to stick to the plan because the
roads are finally looking good. He commented that he would like to keep up with the
required maintenance.

City Administrator Larson explained that a feasibility study would evaluate street
maintenance and reconstruction requirements.

City Engineer Statz explained the options for road repair and maintenance. He
distributed a map of the street repair/maintenance in Centerville.

Discussion ensued.

Motion by Council Member Broussard, seconded by Council Member Lee, to
approve the 2009 Street and Utility Improvement Project Feasibility Study as
proposed by Bonestroo, not to exceed $45,000.
