City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />June 27, 2007 <br />general fund expenditures, budget result, debt service funds, capital project funds, water <br />fund, sewer fund, storm water fund, debt to assets, debt per capita, and taxes per capita. <br /> <br />Mr. McDonald informed Council that the 2007 audit standards would change. He <br />explained the new audit standards, commenting that the most extensive change would be <br />in how an audit is conducted. He explained that auditors would be required to assess risk <br />and then develop procedures designed around any risk found. He recommended that the <br />City document its internal control policies and procedures into a written manual. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Lee, seconded by Council Member Paar, to accept the <br />2006 Annual Audit Report as presented. All in favor. Motions carried <br />unanimously. <br /> <br /> <br />2.Centennial Lakes Police Department Chief Bob Makela Annual Report <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Police Chief Makela introduced Officers Andy Dixon, Jason Corlew, and Reserve Officer <br />Bill Jacobson. He recognized everyone in general for their hard work and assistance on <br />the department’s annual report. <br /> <br />Chief Makela summarized the information provided in the 2006 Annual Report to <br />include: Mission Statement, Message from the Chief, Command Structure, City <br />Attorneys, Financial Overview, Activity and Incident Report, Alcohol and Tobacco <br />Compliance, Community Oriented Policing, Crime Prevention, Department Facility, <br />Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE), Firearms, Fleet, Forfeitures, Investigations, <br />Medical, New Department Personnel, Police Reserves, Predatory Offender Registry, Safe <br />and Sober, Speed Enforcement and Radar, Training, Use of Force, and the Website. <br /> <br />Mayor Capra stated that she and Councilmember Lee sit on the Police Commission. She <br />reported that a goal setting meeting was held to determine how to police Centerville. <br />Mayor Capra indicated that the main points from that meeting were law enforcement, <br />quality of life, and problem solving. She stated that the Police Commission would be <br />setting goals in these three areas. <br /> <br />Chief Makela commented that it is good to see City government, the police departments <br />and the residents come together to meet the needs of the community. <br /> <br />Councilmember Lakso asked how familiar the officers are with the school. <br /> <br />Chief Makela replied that the officers are very familiar with Mr. Bob Stevens, Centerville <br />Elementary School Principal.
