City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />August 8, 2007 <br />VIII. NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br /> <br />1.Proposed 2008 Centennial Fire District Budget <br /> <br />Councilmember Lakso stated that the increase to the Fire District Budget is mostly due to <br />the rise in insurance costs. She explained the breakdown of the budget. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Lakso, seconded by Council Member Paar, to approve <br />the Proposed 2008 Centennial Fire District Budget as presented. All in favor. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> <br />2.Proposed 2008 Centennial Lakes Police Department Budget <br /> <br />Councilmember Lee commented on the 5.66 % increase to the Police Department budget. <br />He stated that the board elected not to hire another officer at this time. He stated he felt <br />that it would be more cost effective to hire another officer than pay the overtime. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Paar, seconded by Council Member Lakso, to approve <br />the Proposed 2008 Centennial Lakes Police Department Budget as presented. All in <br />favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> <br />3.Resolution #07-030 – Proclaiming September 17-23, 2007 as Constitution Week <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Lakso, seconded by Council Member Lee, to approve <br />Resolution #07-030, a Resolution Proclaiming September 17-23, 2007 as Constitution <br />Week. <br /> <br />Councilmember Lee requested that staff add a link to the Constitution to the website. <br /> <br />Mayor Capra requested that the newspapers also print the resolution. <br /> <br />Councilmember Broussard inquired as to what happens to all the resolutions, <br />proclamations, and motions made by Council over the years. <br /> <br />City Administrator Larson replied that they remain in the records. <br /> <br />All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> <br />4.Centerville Elementary PTA Request for Temporary/Event Bingo Permit <br /> <br />Mayor Capra questioned City Attorney Glaser whether a state statue exists concerning the <br />purchase of gaming ticket by the individuals sponsoring the event. <br />Page 3 of 6 <br />
