The Minnesota State Fair is known for featur- ing the latest and greatest. This year, visit the new Eco Experience building. A first of its kind. The Eco Experience is an indoor green space with lush rain gardens, an eco home, and cutting-edge displays on renewable energy, new fuels and vehicles, and organic farm- ing as well as a live stage. The Rice Creek Watershed District is working with area youth to present a skit and a presenta- tion about "Blue -Thumb Planting for Clean Water". Next, stop by the WaterShed Partners' hands-on displays in the Department of Natural Resources building. Finally, re- member to pick-up your bag at the WCCO booth with cou- pons on products and services that support clean water. COMING SOON—BACKAGE ROAD You may have heard that the City is in the process of con- structing what has been called a "backage road" that con- nects 20th and 21St Avenues, parallel to and "in back of" Main Street (CSAH 14). With the planned improvements to CSAH 14, and specifically the restrictions on turning movements to right-in/right-out to businesses like Goetz Landscaping and Embers, the backage road will provide a back way out that takes you south and back over to 20th Avenue (County 54). Without this alternative you would have to make a right out of Embers and cross the freeway to a point where you could then make a U-turn to come back to Centerville. We think this will be a welcome improvement. The camp includes sessions on bike safety, fire safety, 911 procedure, water safety, personal safety, electrical safety, outdoor safety and first aid - all in an informative and fun atmosphere. Safety Camp is intended for children entering 4th grade the fall of 2006. En- rollment is limited, so register early. Additional information may be obtained by visiting the City's Web- site at: www.centervillemn.com. 2006 ELECTION UPDATE Are you aware that the City of Centerville has complied with the new HAVA Election Law by purchasing a machine (Automark) that assists disabled voters by reading the ballot for them, providing Braille assisted voting and allows them to use a touch screen to process their vote and marks their ballot for processing. This new machine will be available for demon- stration at City Hall beginning July 17, 2006 through September 11, 2006. State Primary Election is September 12, 2006 polls open at 7:00 a. m. State General Election is November 7, 2006, polls open at 7:00 a. m. The City of Centerville's polling place has changed from the Cen- terville Elementary School to St. Genevieve's Parish Community Center located at 6995 Centerville Road, Centerville, MN 55038.
