City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />October 10, 2007 <br />as a pride issue for the City. He commented that the League is willing to purchase an <br />additional drag for the City. <br /> <br />City Administrator Larson commented that Public Works has staff to drag the park. He <br />commented the reduction of the frequency of dragging had been discussed. <br /> <br />Councilmember Lee asked if part-time summer help was hired. <br /> <br />City Administrator Larson replied that one individual is hired for the summer. <br /> <br />Mayor Capra asked what type of agreement the City had with the Little League. <br /> <br />Mr. Mahr replied they are looking for the agreement. <br /> <br />Councilmember Paar commented that there are many kids using the park. He stated he is <br />in favor of continuing the current drag plan and additional times if required. He <br />commented he is in favor of the $1,000 donation. He questioned how and where to draw <br />the line on donating to organizations. <br /> <br />Councilmember Lee commented that he is in favor of continuing the dragging of the field, <br />as maintaining a safe environment for the kids is a good idea. He stated he opposes the <br />$1,000 donation as it sets a precedent for other organizations to request the same. <br /> <br />Councilmember Broussard questioned where the comment to reduce drag hours came <br />from. <br /> <br />City Administrator Larson replied that the crew is small; however, it could be <br />accommodated if it is a Council priority. <br /> <br />Council Broussard commented that dragging the field four days per week should remain; <br />however, other priorities take precedence. She stated that she opposes the donation. <br /> <br />Mayor Capra considers dragging the field as regular maintenance. She stated the donation <br />is not something she would approve. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Lee, seconded by Council Member Paar, to approve the <br />Little League Use of Laurie LaMotte Memorial Park per the 2007 agreement and <br />provide regular maintenance four days per week, depending on staff priorities. All in <br />favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Officer Gates, Centennial Police Department, stated that there have been no major <br />incidents reported in the City of Centerville. He reported that there was a search for two <br />missing children, who turned out to be at a friend’s house, and a traffic accident that <br />resulted in property damage. <br /> <br />Page 4 of 7 <br />
