City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />November 28, 2007 <br /> <br /> <br />4.Consider Granting Off-Sale Liquor Licensing for 2008: <br /> <br />a.Trio Inn <br /> <br />b.Centerville Liquor Barrel <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Paar, seconded by Council Member Lakso, to approve <br />Granting Off-Sale Liquor Licensing for 2008 for the Trio Inn and the Centerville <br />Liquor Barrel. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> <br />5.Eagle Pass Twin Townhome Association Request for Screening <br /> <br />City Administrator Larson reported that when the City relocated the power lines, they <br />also removed the trees screening the Eagle Pass Townhomes. He stated the association is <br />requesting that Council consider paying for the planting of replacement trees. <br /> <br />Councilmember Lee commented that this is similar to a request received by Parks and <br />Recreation. He recommended not approving this request as it is for the beautification or <br />screening of private property. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued. <br /> <br />Consensus reached that the request for screening from the Eagle Pass Twin Townhome <br />Association would not be approved. <br /> <br /> <br />6.Anoka County Historical Society Request for Take-on Loan for Public Safety <br />Display: Centerville Horse Drawn Fire Tanker and Bars from Jail <br /> <br />Mayor Capra reported that the old Public Works building (recently torn down) was once <br />the old Centerville jail. She reported the Anoka County Historical Society requested a <br />loan of the old jail bars for display purposes. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Lakso, seconded by Council Member Paar, to approve <br />Anoka County Historical Society’s Request for Take-on Loan for Public Safety <br />Display: Centerville Horse Drawn Fire Tanker and Bars from Jail. All in favor. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> <br />7.EDA – Authorization for Business Ad Expenditures <br /> <br />Councilmember Lakso reported that a meeting was held with local businesses to discuss a <br />campaign for positive advertisement. She stated that the round table discussion resulted <br />in good ideas and recommendations for advertising. She commented that the overall <br />mood of excitement to work together to figure out what could be done and how the City <br />could help them was evident. She stated the decision for Council is how much to <br />contribute to the advertising and what advertising to support. Councilmember Lakso <br />reported that the goal of the group is to meet again and involve more businesses. <br /> <br />Page 7 of 9 <br />
