<br />League of Minnesota Cities - Regional Meeting <br />Councilmember Buckbee moved to approve the Staff or Council attendance at the Lea2ue <br />of Minnesota Cities regional meeting for the dinner and social hour. Councilmember <br />Brenner seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />EDC - Design Team Report <br />Councilmember Brenner reported on the visit and presenation of the Minnesota Design Team <br />(MDT). A fishing pier concept was developed from a color contest held within the community. <br />The MDT gave 14 presentations on several different ideas that have potential to be implemented <br />into the community; a heritage museum, youth center, bike riding areas, basketball courts, and <br />give the downtown area (Main Street and Centerville Road) an old village appearance in the <br />proposed commercial development. <br /> <br />Mr. Wayne LaBlanc stated the Design Team was a tremendous experience and one of the greatest <br />things to happen to Centerville. Centerville wants trails which was gathered from the MDT <br />sessions. Unfortunately, the nature center is currently inaccessible because of a lack of trails to it. <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber noted a special thanks to Theresa Brenner and Mary Capra for all the long hours <br />and help in making the MDT an endeavor. <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber reported a CSO is scheduled to give a presentation before the Council and <br />explained the CSO role, the Explorer program, the Police reserve opportunities and the crime <br />watch program. Finally, the Police Department received 12 applications for the Police Officer <br />position. <br /> <br />ADMINISTRATORS REPORT <br />Mr. March confirmed a budget workshop date and time. <br /> <br />Mr. March introduced Mr. James Bownik as the City's new intern. Furthermore, Mr. Bownik <br />will be working on a $5,000 tree grant and a bill from a customer in regards to a sprinkler system. <br /> <br />Mr. March concluded by explaining the City received a letter from Dennis Shudy requesting to <br />lease the park property located off Cedar Street. The request will be further investigated. <br /> <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br /> <br />1. Accept 1998 Fall Newsletter <br />The Council requested a "thank you" statement to Mary Jo Helmbrecht, Joan LaMotte and <br />Shirley Drewlo be incorporated into the fall newsletter. <br /> <br />Councilmember Buckbee moved to approve the consent agenda.
