Motion seconded by Councilmember Brenner. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Helmbrecht to approve the rezone request from R3 to B 1 to the <br />westerly boundary for outlot A and B and remaining portion rezoned R3 to R2 as per plan dated <br />June 22, 1998, contingent upon final plat approval. Motion seconded by Councilmember <br />Brenner Helmbrecht, Brenner and Powers - aye. Buckbee and Wilharber - nay. Motion denied <br />due to lack of 4/5th vote. <br /> <br />Police Contract <br />Mayor Wilharber stated the Police Chief Search has been an interesting process and that the <br />Department received several good candidates. <br /> <br />Ajoint meeting was held on August 24, 1998, with Circle Pines and Lexington for a proposed <br />budget meeting. Mayor Wilharber, Councilmember Brenner and Councilmember Helmbrecht <br />were present. The meeting started at 7:00 and ended at 11:00 p.m. Mayor Wilharber thanked the <br />participating members. <br /> <br />The Circle PinesILexington Police Department is looking at Centerville experiencing an $307,515 <br />increase for 24 hour police coverage in Centerville. <br /> <br />Lock-outs and false calls will be explored and evaluated as the City goes through the grid theory. <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber clarified that 24 hour coverage does not mean 24 hour continuous coverage. <br />He gave the go ahead with $274,568 for the 1999 Tri-City. . <br /> <br />Councilmember Helmbrecht agreed with the following percents:' 49% Circle Pines <br />I <br />26% Lexington <br />25% Centerville <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber mentioned Centerville is growing fast and experiencing more residential and <br />commercial growth, thus increasing the City's safety needs. Councilmember Helmbrecht <br />requested the Police Department document their actual time in Centerville. <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber touched upon tenative amounts to partner with the CPLPD. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Buckbee to approve $274.568. for the Tri-City Police <br />Department. Motion seconded by Councilmember Helmbrecht. <br /> <br />Further discussion. Councilmember Helmbrecht noted this included two new staff members. <br /> <br />9 <br />
