)

Council Member Sweeney requested more information on the public works facility.

Council Member (and Acting Mayor) Brenner felt it would be best to have an orientation /
drive around with the new Council. It was determined that Thursday, February 18, from
9:00 - 12:00 Public Works will take Council on a drive around the city which will include
visiting the public works site, lift stations, Lake Area Utilities (future public works site),
and all of the parks and developments.

Paul Palzer noted there are still 5-6 items from 1997 goals that haven't been met. He also
mentioned the Police Department set up an office at public works last week.

Council Member Nelson suggested each council member compile a list often (10) goals,
ranking them with ten (10) being the highest - and one (1) being the lowest. Then total up
the scores to come up with our priority list.

It was determined this needs to be done by Friday, January 22nd so staff can include it in
the council packets.

Council Member Nelson questioned what a mission statement was.

Acting Mayor Brenner explained it is a statement that gives a focus of the organization.
Theresa felt it is very important to include Staff in the mission statement.

AMENDMENTS OF NEWSLETTER

Motion by Council Member Nelson to approve the newsletter contingent upon nQted
changes.
