Motion carried. <br /> <br />NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />Generator Purchase <br />Mr. March reported that Fire Chief Bennett requested authorization to purchase a generator for <br />Centerville City Hall. The generator would be sized to operate both City Hall and the Fire Station in the <br />event of an emergency or natural disaster. The generator may cost in the area of $30,000. Furthermore, <br />funds are available in the charitable gambling account to help pay for this piece of equipment. The <br />generator would be permanently mounted behind City Hall. However, the generator would not be able to <br />be used to operate the City wells. Moreover, the City Hall/Fire Station would be used to operate an <br />emergency operations center, if the piece of equipment is purchased. The Council discussed the <br />specifications of th~,generator and Mr. Palzer suggested the Council co!}sider !!!e purchase of a larger _ <br />generator ill order to operate the above stated City wells. After further discussion, the Council electe<Tto <br />create new specifications in order to purchase a larger generator to run the Fire Department, City Hall, <br />lift stations and to explore cost of a mobile generator. ~ ~ <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Sweeney. seconded by Councilmember Nelson to table this item until- <br />more information is provided. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Lion Club City Celebration Request: Noise Permit/3.2 Beer Permit <br />Mr. March explained the Centerville Lions's Club officially requested a noise permit and 3.2 beer permit <br />to be used in conjunction with the Fete des Lacs City Celebration. The Lion's will provide the City with <br />a copy of their liquor liability insurance. The Lion's will be working with the Circle PinesILexington <br />Police Department to coordinate the security for this annual event. The Lion's will also be working with <br />the Elementary School to coordinate the use of their facilities. Finally, the Lion's would also like to <br />block off Progress Road as done in years past. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Travis. seconded by Sweeney to approve the noise permit. 3.2 beer <br />permit. waive fees. conditioned upon receipt of a certificate of insurance and evening events <br />ending similar to last year. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Overweight Permit - 1580 Sorel Street <br />Mayor Wilharber said the City has received a request for an overweight permit for 1580 Sorel Street. <br />Tne Council inquired about the tonnage amount and the need to establish policy indicating all overweight <br />permits must go before Council for approval. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Sweeney. seconded by Councilmember Nelson to approve the <br />overwei2ht permit as requested. but only if access is from Main Street to GoifTon and to the <br />smallest section of Sorel Street. <br /> <br />Further discussion: <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber affirmed overweight permit procedures: <br />* Collect a $5000 escrow check - which will be drawn from in the event of road damage. <br />* Picture of road before and after hauling. <br /> <br />Page 3 of 6 <br />
