Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Request for Building Permit Waived - Centerville Elementary <br />Mr. Palzer confirmed Mayor Wilharber's question regarding the permit cost of $175. Mayor Wilharber <br />commented the fees would recycle through the public entities. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Wilharber. seconded by Councilmember Sweeney to waive the building permit <br />fee for the Centerville Elementary School sign. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Reshmation of Co~ncilmember Theresa Brenner _~ _ ~ <br />With regret. Mayor Tom Wilharber moved to accept Councilmember Brenner's letter of <br />resignation. Councilmember Mari Nelson seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber noted that Theresa has been an integral Part: of the Council, EDC, Design Team, <br />Youth, Star City,~HRNSenior Housing and many, many other organizations. Moreover, she will be <br />missed by many for a long time. <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber highlighted on the possible options to fill the Council vacancy: <br />Post the vacancy, accept applications and conduct interviews. <br />Hold a Special Election. <br />Offer the position to the next highest vote getter - Linda Broussard Vickers <br /> <br />The Mayor stated that he had contacted Linda Broussard Vickers and she had voiced an interest and <br />would welcome the opportunity to work with Council. Ms. Vickers also stated that she would regret <br />having to resign from the Planning and Zoning Commission. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Nelson. seconded by Councilmember Sweeney that the City inform <br />individuals that a Council position is available. accept resumes or letters of interest then interview. <br /> <br />Further Discussion: <br /> <br />Councilmember Travis commented he would rather see Linda Broussard Vickers be appointed to the <br />City Council. He reasoned that he could not think of a more informed, or better candidate that has <br />shown interest. Ms. Broussard has been active in the Community, on the Planning Commission and ran <br />for Council in the last election. In short, he felt confident that even after the interview process he would <br />choose Ms. Broussard Vickers. <br /> <br />Councilmember Sweeney stated the same and withdrew his second from the above mentioned motion. <br /> <br />Mayor Wilharber called the vote and the vote failed to pass. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Sweeney. seconded by Councilmember Travis to offer the City Council <br />vacancy to Linda Broussard Vickers.
