<br />t <br /> <br />CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br /> <br />SENIOR HOUSING <br />SPECIAL MEETING ~ JUNE 19, 1996 <br /> <br />MEETING OPENED: <br />MEETING CLOSED: <br /> <br />6:00 P.M. <br />7: 10 P.M. <br /> <br />PRESENT: Tom Wilharber and Theresa Brenner <br />ABSENT: Sanna Buckbee, MaryJo Helmbrecht, and Laura Powers-Rasmussen <br />STAFF PRESENT: Jim March, Trudi Breuninger <br />PRESENTERS: Steve Griesert, Community Partners and Tim Yantos, Anoka <br />County HRA <br /> <br />Attached to the meeting notes is a copy of the slides Mr. Griesert reviewed during his <br />presentation, which basically was a summary of the entire study. Following his <br />presentation, residents had the following questions and comments. <br /> <br />Mary Jane Lang, 1559 Peltier Lake Drive, asked if it would be section 8 housing and ifit <br />can be restricted to keep kids out. Mr. Griesert responded that it can be restricted to <br />seniors -- 55 and older. <br /> <br />Mary Capra, 1810 Fox Run, asked if it is subsidized and seniors would have to seek help <br />out for themselves and also iffederal funding was available. Mr. Griesert answered that <br />subsidized housing is offered in the 7 county metro area and that federal funding is no <br />longer available. <br /> <br />Louis Thill, 1385 Mound Trail, asked ifit was to be city owned. Mr. Griesert said it could <br />be the city's or the County HRA. <br /> <br />Walt Neumann, 1989 S. Robin Lane, asked what drives the project financially. Mr. <br />Griesert stated the city would look at essential bonds with the HRA funding to start the <br />project. <br /> <br />Tim Yantos presented a drawing of the senior housing project in Ham Lake. He explained <br />that if federal funding is not used the city can put restrictions on age limits, who gets first <br />choice. And stated the project in Ham Lake is being built and managed by the county <br />HRA but is working closely with the city. <br /> <br />Jim March asked about the timeline.
