Mayor Wilharber requested a carbon copy of the letter be sent to the City of Hugo. 41 Union Contract- Councilmember Powers-Rasmussen asked for clarification on the paid and not paid holidays in the union c6ntract. Mr. March explained the ten paid holidays on the list. Further, employees are required to take vacation pay on the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. Mr. March received comments from Mr. Hellings. He said the contract met with all legal requirements and met with his approval and annotations. Councilmember Helmbrecht asked if there will be any change with full-time and part-time employees. Mr. March responded there will be no change to the status of full-time and part-time. MOTION by Councilmember Brenner, seconded by Mayor Wilharber to approve the union draft contract changes between the City of Centerville and the local union. Clarifying, the city only accepts the sentences stating that the $150 and $300 are only applicable to benefits when the cost of single or family health care has not met the threshold of the mentioned amounts. NEW BUSINESS: Crack Filling - Mr. March reiterated the request letter from Mr. Paul Palzer, Building OfficialJPublic Works Director recommending entering into a three-year contract with Bergmann for crack filling. 4 MOTION by Councilmember Powers-Rasmussen, seconded by Councilmember Brenner to accept the proposal as per the letter dated March 4, 1997 from Bergmann for street crack filling for three years at the rates specified in letter. Motion carried. National Night Out - Mayor Wilharber referred to a letter received from Cindy Elofson, CirILex Police Department, indicating the National Night Out is August 5, 1997. Mayor Wilharber commented Centerville was not active last year, however the Police Department would like to see the city be active this year. Councilmember Helmbrecht commented the other cities have full-time employees promoting the neighborhood watch whereas the City of Centerville does not have a full time employee. Mayor Wilharber commented a Community Service Officer is one of the things the City will be looking at when renewing the police contract. Lions Club - Mayor Wilharber reported he will be speaking at the Lions Meeting March 13, in Hugo. Mayor Wilharber commented he will be delivering an update on City issues such as Senior Housing.
