<br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City Council of <br />the City of Centerville held their regular meeting on Wednesday, <br />March 26, 1980 in the City Hall. Mayor Prachar called the meeting <br />to order at 7:00 pm. Present were: Burque, L'Allier, Laska and <br />Savela. nngineer Walt Williams was also present. <br /> <br />Leon L'Allier made a motion to accept the minutes of the March <br />12 meeting, Floyd Laska seconded it, motion carried. <br /> <br />Discussion was held on the condition of city streets. Floyd <br />Laska was to check on material from Lino Lakes ~n fill for the <br />chuck holes. <br /> <br />Discussion was held on the resurfacing of the city parking lot. <br />The Council was agreeable to Plan "A" submitted by the Engineer. <br />Plan "A" calls for five inches Class 2 and two inches asphalt. <br />Council will seek additional cost of surfacing from firm in <br />Lino Lakes and Northern Blacktopping. Mayor Prachar will <br />approach Father Lally to see if the church would be agreeable <br />to pick up one-third of the cost and the city would pick up <br />the remaining two-thirds. <br /> <br />Discussion was held on the proposed purchase of the ten acres <br />of land from 1V1rs. LaMotte for the city park. Mrs. LaMotte was <br />represented by three members of her family. After considerable <br />discussion, a purchase arrangement was agreed upon as follows: <br />Land at $2,000. per acre; large pile of dirt on land for $700. <br />and split the survey cost of approximately $660. Motion by <br />Leon L'Allier, second by Gary Savela to purchase the property <br />at $2,000. per acre, splitting the survey cost with LaMotte <br />family, purchase the dirt pile for $700. The City will make <br />$7,000. down payment and the balance to be paid in five yearly <br />payments. The interest rate is open and subject to the rate <br />established by state law currently in the legislature. City <br />has option to payoff the balance earlier, if desirable. The <br />City will split the cost of searching the abstract with the <br />LaMotte family, motion carried. <br /> <br />Discussion of surveying this property was held. Motion by <br />Burque, second by Laska to survey the property purchased by <br />City from LaMotte family and to have a topographical map drawn <br />up, motion carried. <br /> <br />Mayor Prachar brought up the possibility of pursuing a state <br />or federal grant for the park property and the development of <br />same. Request was made of the Parks and Recreation Committee <br />to formulate a five year plan for the City by the next council <br />meeting on April 9th. Members of the committee in attendance <br />advised this will be done. <br />
