<br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City Council of <br />Centerville held a special meeting to review the police pro- <br />tection in Centerville. Mayor Savela called the meeting to <br />order at 8:05 pm. Present were: L'Allier, Laska, Murray <br />and Wilharber. The meeting was held November 10, 1981. <br /> <br />Mayor Savela gave a brief outline of why the meeting was <br />called, reviewed the amount of the police contract for the <br />past three years and proposed amount of contract for 1982. <br /> <br />Residents in audience gave their views: <br />Eugene Houle - 7124 Centerville Road <br />John Trippel - Trippel's Market - 1801 Main Street <br />Beth Levandowski - 7121 Centerville Road <br />Joe Moore - 7353 - 20th Avenue North <br />Donna Mishler - 1740 Heritage Street <br />Marc Rivard - 7072 Progress Road <br />Frank Zimny - 7252 LaValle Drive <br />Betty Berg - 7129 Main Street <br />Des ~nglund - 7080 Brian Drive <br />Carol Romie - 1724 Sorel Street <br />John Mishler - 1740 Heritage Street <br /> <br />Also in attendance were Commissioner Dick Lang from Anoka <br />County and Anoka County Police Sgt. Smolich. Discussion <br />was held on the Anoka County contract figures for 1982 in <br />regard to 8 hour coverage, 16 hour coverage and 24 hour <br />coverage. Copy of figures are on file with the clerk. <br /> <br />Council and audience discussed possibility of how much the <br />Lino Lakes figure of $40,000. for 1982 would "buy" for the <br />city if they considered having their own department with <br />one-two cars, one-two men and other costs involved; calling <br />the Vo-Tech School to see if a .police trainee is interested <br />in part time police coverage for Centerville under his <br />training program; being advised by Commissioner Lang that <br />the County is drawing up a contract proposal for Lino <br />Lakes and including Centerville in proposal; setting up <br />a Community Action Committee by calling the clerk, mayor <br />or councilmen if anyone is interested in serving on such <br />a committee. <br /> <br />Being no further discussion, motion by Laska, second by <br />Wilharber to adjourn meeting, motion carried.
