<br />ARTICLE 6 - D~FINITIONS <br /> <br />For the purpose of this ordinance, certain words and terms are <br />hereby defined as follows: <br /> <br />61.01. Alley is a public right-of-way which affords a secondary <br />means of access to abutting property. <br /> <br />61.02. BLOCK: A tract of land bounded by streets or a <br />combination of streets, parks, cemeteries, railroad <br />rights-of-way, shorelines, waterways or corporate <br />boundary lines of the City. <br /> <br />61.0). BOUNDARY LIN~S: The lines indicating the bounds or <br />limits of any tract or parcel of land. <br /> <br />61.04. BUILDING LINES: The line also referred to as setback <br />line means the line beyond which property owners or <br />others have no legal or vested right to extend a <br />building or any part thereof without special permission <br />and approval of the proper authorities. <br /> <br />61.05. BUTT LOT: A butt lot is a lot, the side line of <br />which coincides with the back line of one or more <br />other lots. <br /> <br />61.06. COMPR~HENSIVE PLAN: The comprehensive development <br />plan made and adopted by the City of Centerville, <br />Minnesota, indicating the general locations recommended <br />for major thoroughfares, streets, parks, public buildings, <br />zoning districts and other public improvements. <br /> <br />61.07. CONTOUR MAP: A map on which irregularities of a land <br />surface are shown by lines connecting points of equal <br />elevations. Contour intervals is the vertical height <br />between contour lines. <br /> <br />61.06. CORN~R LOTS: The lot or lots within a plat and <br />situated at the corners thereof so that they are <br />bounded on two sides by streets. This term applies <br />to any lot within the plat at street intersections <br />and bounded on two sides by streets. <br /> <br />61.09. CROSS WALK: A right-of-way, municipally owned, which <br />cuts across a block to furnish access for pedestrians <br />to adjacent streets or properties. <br /> <br />61.10. CUL-D~-SAC: (Court or Dead-~nd Street) A short <br />minor street having one end open to traffic and <br />being permanently terminated by a vehicular turn- <br />around. <br /> <br />61.11. EAS~MENT: A grant by the property owner to the use of <br />a strip of land by the public, a corporation, or persons <br />for specific purposes. <br /> <br />61.12. FRONTAG~: The width of a lot or building site measured <br />on the line separating it from a public street or way. <br />
