City of Centerville <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />January 23, 2008 <br />Council Member Lakso reported that the response to the CERT Program has been very <br />good. She reported the training runs from March to May 2008. She encouraged residents <br />to contact her for more information. <br />b. Alexandra House <br />Council Member Lakso reported she had attended the elected official's open house held <br />recently at the Alexandra House. Council Member Lakso felt that there was an need for <br />increased revenue for education and awareness of domestic abuse and requested that <br />Council assign an individual to the Anoka County Task Force that would assist in <br />prevention and educating the public about domestic abuse. <br />Discussion ensued. <br />Mayor Capra requested that Council Member Lakso back additional information to <br />Council for further consideration. <br />c. LMC Conference <br />Council Member Lakso reported that she had attended the recent LMC Conference, <br />ethics were the major topic of discussion, and that she would be bring information to <br />Council at their next meeting. <br />Council Member Lee reported that the Police Commission has a new Chaiperson, Mr. <br />Dave Kelso from Circle Pines; Council Member Lakso had made a great presentation on <br />the CERT program; and they approved sending Investigator Russ Blanck to the FBI <br />Academy. Council Member Lee also reported that the union contract was rejected and <br />mediation might follow. <br />Mayor Capra reported that she gave an update at the Police Commission meeting on <br />mental health issues, Police Officer response, and the dangers involved. <br />Council Member Lee requested that Council consider revisiting Committee/Commission <br />appointments and appointing individuals under the age of 18 for City <br />Committees/Commissions because he has been approached by individuals in this capacity <br />who would like to serve their community. <br />Police Report <br />Officer Aldridge reported on the following topics: <br />Frustration with procedures for handling individuals who are suffering from mental <br />health issues. <br />Increased Traffic offenses and domestic calls over the past two months. <br />Promotion of Officer Chris Carlson to Investigator. <br />Page 6 of 7 <br />
