<br />'08/2/27 <br /> <br />DRAFT <br /> <br />Beckground <br />City of Can/ervtlle <br />2030 Comprehensive Plan <br /> <br />Transportation <br /> <br />The Transportation Plan is a guide for the City so that the transportation system meets <br />the needs of residents and businesses as the community grows and develops. The <br />primary transportation system Is the road network, but other important elements of the <br />system include aviation and transit. <br /> <br />This existing Information will be used as a starting point for the transportation element of <br />the 2030 Comprehensive Plan. In addition, Washington County will complete limited <br />traffic modeling for their comprehensive planning that will be available for the city to use. <br /> <br />Roadwav System <br /> <br />Figure 13 identifies roadways In the City of Centervllle, Including their jurisdiction and <br />"functional classification." These roadways are under the jurisdiction of different levels of <br />government, Including Anoke County and the City of Centerville. Limited eccass <br />roadways that carry larger volumes of traffic at higher speeds tend to be under the <br />jurisdiction of the State of Minnesota (e.g.. Interstates, U.S. Highways. and State Trunk <br />Highways). Roads that carry mostly local traffic are under the jurisdiction and ara the <br />responsibility of the City. Anoka County has jurisdiction of roads that carry intermediate <br />levels of traffic end which provide connections among communities in the County. <br />County roedways Include those that receive direct aid from the State of Minnesota, <br />which are called County State Aid Highways (CSAHs), and general County Roads. <br />Roadways In the City are described by their functional classifications In the sections that <br />follow. <br /> <br />36 <br />
