Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the City Council of the
City of Centerville held its regular meeting on August 9, 1989 at
City Hall. Mayor Haberman called the meeting to order at 7:00
p.m. Present: Peterson, Pelton, Burgstahler, Neumann.
Motion by Burgstahler, second by Neumann to approve the minutes
of the July 22, 1989 City Council meeting, Motion carried -
unanimously.
OLD BUSINESS.
The City Council heard requested recommendations and suggestions
from the Park and Recreation Committee members. Committee
members present were Ferry LeTendre and Steve Dixon. LeTendre
and Dixon representing the Park and Recreation Committee
suggested that if Main Street (County Road 14) were widened, they
would recommend a four lane from 35W to the Anoka County Park,
but suggested that the width of the street may be adequate east
of the Anoka County Park. They suggested a walking path/bike
trail which would be 6 to 8 feet wide separated from the street,
to be implemented at the time of county road improvement. They
suggested that four lanes between Centerville Lake and Peltier
Lake would be too hazardous, due to the pedestrian traffic and
the persons who fish in the area.
Mayne LeBlanc, 1677 Peltier Lake Drive, suggested that maybe a
bridge could possibly be installed between Peltier Lake and
Centerville Lake. Possibly the bridge could be large enough that
boats could go through the area.
Park and Recreation members LeTendre and Dixon. noted to the City
Council that $2,500,.00 had been added to their proposed 1990
budget for a coordinator which would be used for the Cities of
Centerville, Lino Lakes, Lexington and Circle Pines. LeTendre
will provide the City with a copy of a proposed resolution/joint
powers agreement for City Council review and possible adoption.
Wayne LeBlanc, Peltier Lake Association Chairperson, appeared
before the City Council to continue discussion of the proposed
Clean Water Partnership Grant. LeBlanc was requesting City
support in the form of a letter and/or a monetary contribution
supporting the Clean Water Partnership Program. LeBlanc advised
that should the grant not be approved, any monetary contribution
committed toward the Program by the City Council would not be
collected.
