.

City Council Meeting Minutes
July 26, 1989
Page six

Council member Pelton felt that the Council members should have
cost estimates for the budget meetings in order to make some
commitment. She will obtain square footage prices for
construction of a new fire station and city office for the August
9, 1989 City Council meeting.

Mayor Haberman will also obtain construction estimates for the
August 9, 1989 City Council meeting.

Clerk/Administrator will contact Kent Roessler to inform him no
decision will be made with regard to his property at Centerville
Plaza until after the budget meetings.

Police Update. Council member Burgstahler formulated three
proposals referencing the Lino Lakes Police Contract. They are
as follows:

1. Accept their $85,000 for the second 1/2 of 1989. This
should be reduced by state aid of approximately $3,000.
1989 cost to Centerville would be:

$28,000
$39,500
$67,500

1st 1/2
2nd 1/2
full year = budget amount

2. For 1990 - 1992. Propose we use $85,000 for 1990 and
add 3% per year. If we settled at 5% per year this
would approximate the cost of adding 11% per year to
the current budget amount of $67,500. (Note: the
$85,000 and subsequent billings would be reduced by
state aid)

3. As a second alternative, propose we share actual costs
on a population or population/property basis. In this
case we would use the prior year's actual costs and add
10% to avoid the problems caused by different budget
cycles.

Motion by Haberman, second by Neumann to direct Joe Pelton, ~nd
Jerry Peterson to meet wi th Randy Schumacker, Lino L,qk~s 01 ty

I .
