Meeting Minutes - CC
November 20, 1989
Page Seven

Mayor Haberman advised that he felt there was a need on the
Planning and Zoning commission for someone capable of looking at
Ordinances #4 and #8 to make recommended changes and rewrite them
as appropriate. He advised that he feels that the Planning and
Zoning Commission seems to evade this project. He fel t that
Charles Brenner with his civil Engineering background may have more
insight to do this. He noted that he has not seen a lot of
Planning and Zoning commission movement since the resignation of
Peter Buesseler. Haberman advised that he felt that Tom Wilharber
would be a very dedicated member if appointed to the position.

council member Peterson noted that the Commission appears to have
made a recommendation on who they felt they could work with,
however it is not known on how they made that choice.

Council member Burgstahler expressed concern that if the present
Chairperson of the Planning and Zoning commission were to resign
the history and knowledge of the past may be more valuable than
technical expertise. He noted that he felt Charles Brenner was a
qualified candidate and that Tom Wilharber would, if his historical
attendance records were to remain the same, help make a quorum for
the Planning and Zoning commission on a regular basis.

council member Pelton advised that knowledge of the city ordinances
is a plus and that it would be difficult for her to not support the
Planning and Zoning recommendations.

Motion by Peterson, second by Haberman to accept the Planning and
Zoning recommendation and appoint Charles Brenner I 7206 Clear
Ridge, to the Planning and Zoning commission, Haberman - aye,
Peterson - aye, Pelton - nay, Burgstahler - nay, Neumann - nay,
motion failed.

Motion by Pelton, second by Neumann to appoint Tom Wilharber as
Planning and Zoning Commission member, Pelton - aye, Burgstahler -
aye, Neumann - aye, Peterson - nay, Haberman - nay, motion carried.

OLD BUSINESS

Flood Pl~in.

Motion by Burgstahler, second by Neumann to accept matching grant
monies awarded by the Department of Natural Resources for Flood
Plain Reduction within the City of centerville; the City council
would like to see from Maier, stewart and Associates again, the
step pattern and where the next step leads the City to include
estimates of timing and dollars involved, motion carried
unanimously.
