Budget Meeting Minutes - CC
page two
August 20, 1990

average Council member salary was approximately $56 per month.

Motion by Neumann to increase the Council member salary from $50
per month to $75 per month and the Mayor salary from $150 per
month to $175 per month.

Discussion followed.

Council member Neumann moves to amend his motion, second on the
amendment by Haberman, to increase the Council member salary from
$50 per month to $85 per month and the Mayor salary from $150 per
month to $175 per month; effective January 1, 1991, motion
carried unanimously.

It appeared to be the concensus of the City Council that
engineering fees be seperated from the "Other" account.

Photocopies were discussed. Mayor Haberman and Council member
Neumann appeared to feel that information copied for the Council
members was excessive. Council member Pelton noted the
importance of staying informed. The Clerk/Administrator advised
that it is often difficult to choose which items to include in
the packet. Often times a Council member will note that they did
not want the information, however, a different Council member may
comment that the same piece of information was very helpful. The
Clerk/Administrator advised that staff does try to use
discretion. She also noted that by supplying as much pertinent
information as possible it is also a protection to staff which is
always in danger of being accused of not informing the Council on
any item.

It was agreed that Mayor Haberman and Council member Neumann will
bring specific examples of regular items that they would like to
see eliminated from the packet.

Discussion of the proposed 1991 Lino Lakes Police Service
contract.

Mayor Haberman noted that the cost of the service has doubled
from 1988 to present. He advised that he has not see a double in
the service. He noted an instance where the police department
was called at 2:15 a.m. because of vandals. An officer did not
respond until 2:47 a.m. He suggested that possibly Columbus
Township and Centerville could work out a program with Anoka
County for police protection which utilized one car and staggered
hours.

City staff is requested
justification of the

to contact Lino Lakes to inquire about
proposed cost of service; whether or not
