Mr. Dixon explained that the softball fields at <br />Central Park were upgraded at the request of the City Celebration <br />Committee for the Fete des Lacs ball tournaments. <br /> <br />Mr. Dixon noted the Park and Recreation did not budget for this <br />maintenance expenditure, as they were not made aware of condition <br />of the fields and the need for extensive maintenance. If the <br />Park and Recreation Committee would have been notified ahead of <br />time, it could have been a budgeted item. <br /> <br />Mr. Dixon requested the City's help <br />upgrading of the fields. The <br />$1,000.00. <br /> <br />in sharing the cost of the <br />total cost was approximately <br /> <br />Council member Helmbrecht questioned where the funds normally <br />come from for field maintenance. <br /> <br />Clerk/Administrator Tamara Miltz-Miller questioned if sharing of <br />half of the cost would be acceptable to the Park and Recreation <br />Committee. <br /> <br />Mr. Dixon expressed he felt the Park and Recreation Committee <br />would accept half of the cost being shared. <br /> <br />Mayor Buckbee explained, in his oplnlon, it is reasonable to <br />expect the repair of the parks and equipment to be included in <br />the Park and Recreation Committee budget. <br /> <br />Mr. Dixon noted the upgrade of the parks is included as a <br />budgeted item, however, the Park and Recreation Committee has no <br />control over the basic maintenance items, the have depended on <br />the Public Works Department to make the necessary <br />maintenance/repairs in the parks. <br /> <br />Council member Dario noted the city Celebration Committee did <br />overlook bringing the condition of the fields to the attention of <br />the Park and Recreation Committee last year. The fields were in <br />bad shape and in needed of work. He expressed the Park and <br />Recreation Committee should be responsible for the fields and <br />budget appropriately. <br /> <br />Mayor Buckbee suggested the money made from the softball <br />tournaments be funnelled back into the maintenance of the fields. <br /> <br />OLD BUSINESS: <br /> <br />Flood Plain Update; Complaints; Number of Years for Assessment; <br />Interest Charged as of October 1, 1994; Richard DeFoe, WaterWorks <br />Beach Club - Signage. <br />
