<br />486 CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br />487 AUGUST 10, 1994 <br />488 PAGE TEN <br />489 <br />490 centerville. <br />491 <br />492 Council member Brenner expressed it is important to have a car <br />493 within the City, not just passing through. <br />494 <br />495 Mayor Buckbee stated what bothered him with the previous contract <br />496 with the City of Lino Lakes is that they would not commit to any <br />497 definite hours and Circle pines/Lexington Police Department is <br />498 very definitive with the number of hours, etc. <br />499 <br />500 Motion by Buckbee, second by Helmbrecht to direct City staff to <br />501 draft a request for proposal for police service; <br />502 the request is to be for police service similar to <br />503 services currently contracted for with the Circle <br />504 Pines/Lexington Police Department and any other <br />505 appropriate options; <br />506 what the cost would be for a one (1), two (2) or other <br />507 multi-year contracts; <br />508 to draft a letter to the Circle Pines/Lexington Police <br />509 Department politely explaining that the City of <br />510 centerville will be investigating other options; <br />511 rough proposals for police services are to submitted by <br />512 September 1, 1994; <br />513 to send the request for proposals to the following <br />514 agencies: <br />515 City of Lino Lakes, Anoka County, Ramsey <br />516 County, Washington County and other <br />517 interested parties; <br />518 the City Council is no way trying to show <br />519 dissatisfaction with the current police services <br />520 provided by the Circle Pines/Lexington Police <br />521 Department; <br />522 the City of Centerville appreciates the efforts of the <br />523 Circle Pines/Lexington Police Department, however the <br />524 City needs to investigate other options for the city's <br />525 number one money item; <br />526 the City of Centerville does not want to discourage the <br />527 efforts of a possible Joint Powers Agreement between <br />528 the cities of Circle Pines, Lexington and Centerville; <br />529 and that the Circle Pines/Lexington Police Department <br />530 proposal is still consider an active and viable, <br />531 motion carried unanimously. <br />532 <br />533 Mayor Buckbee recessed the meeting at 9:15 p.m. The meeting <br />534 reconvened at 9:20 p.m. <br />535 <br />536 Ball Field Maintenance. <br />537 Council member Helmbrecht expressed that she felt the 1994 Park <br />538 and Recreation budget should include all maintenance items. <br />539 <br />
