Users of this chapter should <br />contact the city to determine whether certain provisions in this chapter are affected by <br />other chapters or ordinances. <br />Cross-reference: <br />Building Code adopted, see S 150.01 <br /> <br />~ 154.005 GENERAL INTERPRETATION. <br /> <br />For clarity and consistency in the understanding and application of this chapter, the <br />following shall apply, in addition to the provisions of ~ 10.02: <br /> <br />(A) Sentence construction or phraseology in the present tense, and similarly, <br />references in the future tense may include the present; <br /> <br />(B) The catch lines of the sections of this chapter are intended as mere catchwords to <br />indicate the content of the section, and shall not be deemed or taken to be titles of the <br />sections, nor be deemed to govern, limit, modify or in any manner affect the scope, <br />meaning or intent of the provisions of any sections. <br /> <br />~ 154.006 DEFINITIONS. <br /> <br />For the purpose of this chapter, the following defmitions shall apply unless the <br />context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning. Other words not included in <br />this section shall have the meaning defmed in Minnesota Statutes. Other words not so <br />defmed shall have the meaning customarily associated with them. <br /> <br />ABANDONMENT. To cease or discontinue a use or activity without intent to <br />resume, but excluding temporary or short-term interruptions to a use or activity during <br />periods of remodeling, maintaining or otherwise improving or rearranging a facility, or <br />during normal periods of vacation or seasonal closure. <br /> <br />ABUTTING. Having a common border with, or being separated from a common <br />border by a right-of-way, alley or easement. <br /> <br />ACCESSORY BUILDING. A subordinate structure detached from but located on <br />the same lot as the principal structure, the use of which is incidental and accessory to that <br />of the principal structure. <br /> <br />ACCESSORY USE. A use incidental to and on the same lot as a principal use. <br /> <br />AGRICULTURE. The use of land for agricultural purposes, including farming, <br />dairying, pasturage, agricultural horticulture, floriculture, viticulture and animal poultry <br />husbandry and the necessary accessory uses for packing, treating or storing the produce; <br />provided, however, the operation of any accessory uses shall be secondary to that of <br /> <br />6 <br />
