<br />CITY OF CENTERVILLE <br /> <br />Anoka County * Centerville, Minnesota 55038 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION <br /> <br />76 - 1 <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Minnesota State Legislature is now considering <br />the stadium issue, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, public officials and citizens alike are concerned <br />that real estate taxes will not have to be used as <br />part of the final solution, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, cities throughout the United States have experienced <br />vast cost overruns, huge operating deficits, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, at the local level government enables its citizens <br />to vote by referendum on everything from schools <br />to hockey rinks, to parks, and <br /> <br />VlliEREAS, we feel strongly that all public officials and <br />citizens would like to keep the sports organizations <br />in the State of Minnesota, we also feel very strongly <br />that the ueople should be given the opportunity to <br />vote on this item since cases throughout the United <br />States demonstrate that the public will bear the <br />burden if our public officials' estimates are in~ <br />correct. <br /> <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Centerville fully <br />supports this resolution requesting the State Legis- <br />lature to put any stadium proposal to a vote of our <br />people. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />(~ <br />
