Please accept ~his as a repor(; to the Centerville City Council and
the citizens of Centeville as Cent erville , s representative to the Forest lake
District Memorial Hospit ale

The Board holds meetings monthly. Matters which are handled by the
Board are hospital policy, expenditures of over $500000, acceptance of Doctors
to the staff, room rates and related rates and building cons1;ruction and remodeling
and any related matters.

While the financial condition of the hospital is sound the use of the
hospital is dovm. This is a general trend due to the economy and is common
around the ccuntry. While this has affected the economics of the hospital it
has not been serious encngh to warrant serious action ouch as a ta.~ levy on the
citizens. The mill rate presently in effect results in less than $1000 per year
per family 0

The Board moved cautiously on expenditures on one hand but recognized
that the purchase of some new medical equipment is necessary from time to time to
maintain a modem medical facility.

The hospital is currently negotiating for the sale of 6.1 acres of land
to Macon Industries (Pat Gaughn) for construction of low cost rental units to
the elderly which will be federally financed. This facility would also bring addi-
tional hospital use into the hospitalo Also considered are sales of the SlianSOn
residence and one (1) acre to the bOl'11ing alley for eJq>ansiono

The Forest Lake Hospital is a completely modern facilityo I would urge
our citizens to make use of the hospital whenever they have need, including
emergency situations.

Respectfully submitted,

rw~
F. W. KRUGER
