The City Council of the City of Centerville held a special meeting on Wednesday, July 28, 1976 in the City Hall. Mayor Prachar called the meeting to order at 8:00 pm. Present were: L'Allier, Murray and Peterson. Absent: Burque. Clerk has received a request for a 3.2 Beer and Bingo permit for the St. Genevieve's Church picnic August 15, 1976. John Peterson made a motion to issue St. Genevieve's Church a 3.2 Beer and Bingo permit for Sunday, August 15, 1976 for their annual picnic. Also to rope off that portion of Goiffon Street between the church and parish house to keep unnecessary traffic out which would be policed by each rope in case of emergency, Elmer Murray seconded it, motion carried. M~yor read communication from Metro Parks and Open Space Commission concerning a public hearing to be held on August 17, 1976 at 7:00 pm at the Metro Council chambers on a Regional Trail Plan for the seven-county area. Mayor also read portions of letter from the State of Minnesota Auditor advising us we would have to furnish them with a copy of our 1975 audit. Clerk is in process of having this done. Mayor read letter from the Anoka County Department of Highways wanting comments from communities on the proposed Anoka County Bikeway System. Mayor was to answer with comments on same from the City Council concerning the Centerville portion. Bid has been received on removal of the diseased elm trees on the City property located between the rectory and 7067 Goiffon Street. Bid was as follows: 7 trees removed @ $142.75 per tree or a total of $999.25. Bid was submitted by members of the Centerville Volunteer Fire Department. Elmer Murray made a motion to accept existing bid, John Peterson seconded it, motion carried. Fire Department budget items were discussed. John Peterson made a motion allot $900 for 1976 fire department equipment purchases, Elmer Murray seconded it, motion carried. The General Assessment Policy for assessing sewer footage and acregge charges was discussed. Walt Williams from Carley and Associates was in attendance at meeting and the City Engineer was to go over the policy and report back to council with comments. Parent-Schilling Estates Plot Plan was discussed and John Peterson made a motion for the Mayor to contact both parties to find out their intentions on above plot plan, Leon L'Allier seconded it, motion carried. The matter of figuring the assessment rolls was discussed. Leon L'Allier made a motion that the clerk prepare the assessment rolls at a rate of $5.00 per hour, Elmer Murray seconded it, motion carried.
