.~

,

.

Page Two

1) Of the two driveways that would be directly affected by a lowered
hill, the driveway to the north would benefit by being not so steep
after the hill was lowered.

8) It appears that currently there are four driveways on the street
which are presently steeper than or just as steep as the driveway
to the south. Those four driveways are mine, Skoog's, lvIartinson's,
and Sahlstrom's which were all constructed at their selected angles
by choice of the builder or owner.

9 ) Any concerns about making the house to the south seem excessively
high should be recognized as strictly an optical effect due to:
A) The unusuaJ. vertical structure of that house whose reason for
that style of house setting on a high piece of ground has not
been obvious.
B) That house has practically no shrubbery, and it has not had
its yard landscaped.

10) The cost to the City for the proposed sodding and retaining wall is
so small due to the sewer construction that the cost should not be
a ractor idmaking a decision about lowering the height of the
present hill.

It is suggested that the items in the preceding inro~ation are
primarily reasons as contraKted with being opinions for lowering the
hill. Reasons should be given more emphasis than strictly opinions on
this matter. There no doubt may be many opinions from many dirrerent
persons about t4e possibility of lowering the hill on the road, but the
ra&sons should be given greater consideration from those persons who
travel over the crest or the present hill and thereby regularly exper-
ience a risk from the existing situation.

In conclusion, both my wire and I request that the Oity Council
~pprove the lowering o~ the hill on Peltier Lake Drive.

~7;; /977

Sincerely,

~14~~f~~4
I PMU "
, ,:'. .. <II ".._"

I!JUJ'~ · - -.
