<br />City Council M~ing Minutes <br />May 23,2001 <br /> <br />3. Goals Document <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg reviewed the goals docwnent and requested input. <br /> <br />Motion by Council Member Capra. seconded by Council Member Nelson to <br />approve tbe 20al$ document as presented. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson requested that the document be grammaratically corrected prior <br />to forwarding to committees and commissions for their review. <br /> <br />Council Member Travis stated that he feh some of the goals were lofty, but stated that all <br />the items in the document were good items for the City. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers stated that she bad an issue with the sentence that <br />implied that the City would build a muhi-purpose :facility. <br /> <br />Consensus was to remove the sentence referenced by Council Member Broussard <br />Vickers. <br /> <br />Mr. Brian Walters, 1855 Quebec, stated that his issues with the document stemmed from <br />the tone of the document which implied that Council would inform <br />commissions/committees as to what they would do rather than let the Committees <br />formulate ideas based on public input and present them to Council. Mr. Walters was <br />comfortable with the document subsequent to Council's modification. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg thanked Council Members for going through the process to approve the <br />goals document. <br /> <br />Council Member Nelson explained to Mr. Walters that she feels it is Council's job to <br />keep commissions/committees focused so issues and efforts are not duplicated. <br /> <br />Ms. Brenner, 7206 Clear Ridge, thanked Mayor Swedberg for all ofhis work on the goals <br />document and stated that she feh it was a valuable tool. <br /> <br />IX. NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />1. Eagle Pass Town Home Association Petition <br /> <br />Mr. Hoeft stated he had reviewed the petition and there were no specific procedural <br />obligations on the part of the City for potentially accepting responsibility for Ojibway <br />Drive. Mr. Hoeft stated that the primary concern of residents is maintaining the street, <br />however, Council needs to consider the substandard width and unknown base of the <br />street. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra questioned the town home associations joint responsibilities. <br /> <br />Council Member Broussard Vickers explained that the ~tential members of the third <br />town home association, that would be formed with the 2 Phase, would be driving across <br /> <br />Page 3 ofl2 <br />
