City Council Meeting Minutes May 23, 2001 Council Member Capra stated that on Page 3 of the Parks and Recreation Committee minutes it noted that the Committee was going to speak to the church about using more of its property. Council Member Capm stated that she feh that an issue such as that should come to Council and Council should make the contact with the church. Council Member Broussard Vickers clarified that the Committee has two (2) members that are members of the church and as this is a request to use the land for soccer fields, the Committee feh that it was appropriate to have same contact the church. Council Member Capra stated she feh the issue should have come before Council. Council Member Broussard Vickers stated that the Committee saw the issue as strictly a Parks and Recreation issue that they took measures to handle. Council Member Nelson questioned the comments on Page 5 of the Parks and Recreation Committee minutes that indicated a resident had wanted to rent the softball fields but would not be allowed to. Council Member Broussard Vickers explained he is a coach who wanted to reserve the softball fields at certain times. She further explained that he is part of the Centennial Little League and there is already a structure they are supposed to use and go through. The Parks and Recreation Committee decided not to circumvent the system. She also noted that the fields were already booked. XII. ADMINISTRATOR'S REPORT Mr. March reported he had received a call from a gentlemen interested in a garden plot behind City Hall. He then asked if Council would allow garden plots. Consensus was to allow garden plots behind City Hall. Mayor Swedberg noted that, if needed, the Boy Scouts could add dirt and prepare plots one (1) at a time as interest grows. Mr. March reported that the City would need to reserve a room for the holiday party if the City desired to hold the event at Majestic Oaks again this year. He then asked if the event would be enlarged or kept the same size as last year. Consensus was to retain the same size event as in previous years and to direct Staff to reserve the room for December 14, 2001. Mr. March reported that the tornado siren had been delivered to the Public Works site and noted that Mr. Bennett is working with the electrician to install the siren on City Hall property. Mr. March reported that he had attended a meeting in Blaine concerning the countywide radio system. He noted that the system would cost approximately $12 million dollars.
