<br />City ofCenterville <br />June 25, 2003 <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br /> <br />Motion bv Council Member Lee. seconded bv Council Member Capra to close the <br />public heann!!. All in favor. Motion carried unanimouslv. <br /> <br />Mayor Sweeney closed the public hearing at 7:18 p.m. <br /> <br />Ms. Patricia Lessard indicated that they had not received notice due to an issue with their <br />address. Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated that the City uses a list from the County and there <br />was an error for that address. <br /> <br />City Attorney Hoeft recommended a motion to deny the rezoning request with regard to <br />Parcel R23-31-22-41-0007 due to concerns about spot zoning and allow Mr. Drilling time <br />to resubmit a rezone request with more property owners and other parcels. <br /> <br />Motion bv Council Member Capra. seconded bv Council Member Broussard <br />Vickers to deny the rezone request for Parcel R23-31-22-41-0007 as recommended <br />bv the City Attornev. All in favor. Motion earned unanimouslv. <br /> <br />Ms. Lessard addressed Council as power of attorney for Willie Lessard 6995 20th Avenue <br />South. She then indicated that their main concern is with screening between the <br />properties as well as the driveway access. They have three and are not willing to give <br />one of those up. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra asked if Ms. Lessard was in favor of keeping the property <br />commercial. <br /> <br />Ms. Lessard indicated that they would like the property to remain commercial while they <br />own it but are not opposed to selling it to someone and them seeking a rezoning. She <br />then said that she does not think that commercial and townhomes would be a good mix. <br />She also commented that when they came to the City to ask for a rezoning of their <br />property they were told it was commercial and were denied for townhomes. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra indicated she was opposed as well as Council Member Paar who <br />had said he was opposed to losing commercial property within the City but some Council <br />Members were open to the rezoning. <br /> <br />Ms. Lessard commented that there is not much commercial land within the City. <br /> <br />VII. NEW BUSINESS <br /> <br />1. Develover's Agreement and Final Plat (Peltier Preserve) <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated this matter had been placed on the agenda by request of Mr. <br />Gaugue but the City has not received the necessary documents from him. <br /> <br />Page 5 of12 <br />
