She then <br />commented that she realizes that the City would not see the large savings the first year <br />but, she feels strongly that all current staff should retain their jobs. <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated the governing body could consider putting the officers on <br />probation for a one-year period to see how it works out. <br /> <br />Mayor Sweeney indicated the City needs to make sure that Centerville's representative to <br />the governing body attends the meetings as decisions will be made regardless of whether <br />Centerville is represented. <br /> <br />6. Publishing Costs <br /> <br />Mayor Sweeney indicated that it costs the City $10,000 per year to publish the Week in <br />Review and he feels that is a waste of taxpayer money when the Week in Review is <br />available at City Hall, bye-mail and on the website. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra indicated the Ad Hoc Communications Committee had <br />recommended the Week in Review be published twice per month on the week following <br />the Council meetings so the cost would be half She then said that at the time, it was <br />decided to publish the Week in Review, the City had budgeted $43,000 per year for the <br />newsletter and Council did not wish to continue that. <br /> <br />Mayor Sweeney clarified that the $43,000 included an employee. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra indicated she felt it was important to publish the Week in Review <br />and would like to do so twice per month, as well as, look into a quarterly newsletter and a <br />folding machine. <br /> <br />Council directed Staffto purchase a folding machine not to exceed $500. <br /> <br />Motion bv Council Member Broussard Vickers. seconded bv Council Member Paar <br />to direct Staff to publish one more Week in Review and list all the places that it will <br />be available as it will no lonl!er be published. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra indicated that people do read the Quad and some do not have any <br />other access to the Week in Review. <br /> <br />Council Member Paar indicated the Week in Review is on the web site and could be <br />mailed to anyone with no computer access. <br /> <br />Council Member Lee indicated he would like to investigate a quarterly newsletter to <br />inform residents of what is going on. <br /> <br />Page 14 of 17 <br />
