City of Centerville March 13, 2002 Council Minutes Mr. Charlie Swanson, 1210 Buckthorn Lane, in Lino Lakes addressed Council and read a request for funding assistance from Council to Boy Scout Pack 103 due to the drastic increase in the number of scouts. Mr. Swanson asked for $500 from the charitable gambling funds received by the City. Mayor Swedberg indicated he is a scouter and said his son is about to receive his Eagle Scout badge but said the City cmmot give dollars to any organization. He then commented that the City could let the scouts use its parking lot for a car wash but could not give funds. Council Member Capra indicated she was involved with cub scouts and her troop went from 50 boys to 90 boys in one year and offered to talk to Mr. Swanson to explain how her troop was able to creatively fund the larger troop. Mayor Swedberg suggested sharing equipment with area troops as a cost saving measure. V. CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES 1. February 27. 2002. PETITIONS AND COMPLAINTS None. VII. OLD BUSINESS 1. Proposed Ordinance #68 - ~o WakelSurf8ce Use of Motorized Watercraft on Pehier Lake Mayor Swedberg indicated this would be a public information and public input meeting to discuss the proposed Ordinance #68. He also noted there would be another opportunity for residents to speak to the matter at the next Council meeting. Mayor Swedberg explained that Council is trying to decide if the City should adopt the ordinance as a conservation method to help the birds stay on the island. He then noted Page 2 of21
