<br />City of Centerville <br />March 13, 2002 <br />Council Minutes <br /> <br />Mr. Charlie Swanson, 1210 Buckthorn Lane, in Lino Lakes addressed Council and read a <br />request for funding assistance from Council to Boy Scout Pack 103 due to the drastic <br />increase in the number of scouts. <br /> <br />Mr. Swanson asked for $500 from the charitable gambling funds received by the City. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg indicated he is a scouter and said his son is about to receive his Eagle <br />Scout badge but said the City cmmot give dollars to any organization. He then <br />commented that the City could let the scouts use its parking lot for a car wash but could <br />not give funds. <br /> <br />Council Member Capra indicated she was involved with cub scouts and her troop went <br />from 50 boys to 90 boys in one year and offered to talk to Mr. Swanson to explain how <br />her troop was able to creatively fund the larger troop. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg suggested sharing equipment with area troops as a cost saving measure. <br /> <br />V. PETITIONS AND COMPLAINTS <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />VII. OLD BUSINESS <br /> <br />1. Proposed Ordinance #68 - ~o WakelSurf8ce Use of Motorized Watercraft on <br />Pehier Lake <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg indicated this would be a public information and public input meeting <br />to discuss the proposed Ordinance #68. He also noted there would be another <br />opportunity for residents to speak to the matter at the next Council meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg explained that Council is trying to decide if the City should adopt the <br />ordinance as a conservation method to help the birds stay on the island.
