He then asked if that was a problem <br />for Mr. Lindner. <br /> <br />Mr. Lindner indicated it is a problem. <br /> <br />Mr. Lindner indicated he feels he bas been made a victim and publicly defiuned. He then <br />asked Council to cancel the Peltier Lake restriction ordinance. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg thanked him for his presentation and indicated there would be a public <br />hearing to further discuss the matter. <br /> <br />Councll Member Broussard Vickers indicated she was interested in hearing ideas and options <br />for how to appease both sides of this issue. She then asked residents to think about the <br />~er and come to the public hearing prepared to provide alternative ideas and suggestions <br />rather than simply saying no restrictions. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg commented that research is his business and, when reading Dr. Lanyon, he <br />did not indicate anyone reason why the birds are not successfully nesting. He then <br />commented the City is trying to figure out what conservative measures can enhance <br />survivability of the birds. <br /> <br />Councll Member Capra indicated the majority of lakes have restrictions and to have no <br />restrictions is very unusual. She then said she looks at the issue as the County and the DNR <br />have asked what the City can do to get the birds to nest. She further commented that she <br />hopes there is a way to accommodate both sides of the issue. <br /> <br />A member of the audience asked where Lino Lakes fits in. Councll Member Capra indicated <br />the cities of Centervllle and Lino Lakes need to sign a joint agreement in order to enact the <br />ordinance. <br /> <br />Shelly Armory of7425 Peltier Lake Drive indicated she had seen the documents claiming <br />that the herons have depleted in numbers. She then asked if there was information on the <br />numbers from year to year to see if there truly bas been a noticeable drop in the numbers. <br /> <br />Councll Member Capra indicated the DNR watches the birds and may have information on <br />the numbers of birds. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg indicated the area was not always a colony but was colonized because the <br />Rice Lake colony failed. <br /> <br />Councll recessed at 7:25 p.rn. <br />Council reconvened at 7:33 p.rn. <br /> <br />Page 4 of24 <br />
