<br />Council indicated that license holders do need to contact the Police Chief before filling <br />out the application. <br /> <br />Mr. Vanderbeek expressed concern that his establishment could have enough violations <br />in a year that his license may not be renewed and he would be unaware of it until time to <br />fill out the application. <br /> <br />Mr. Sager indicated that when a business owner passes a compliance check the business <br />is sent a letter. He then asked why a letter could not be generated that states the business <br />did not pass the compliance check. <br /> <br />Mayor Swedberg indicated the City wants to establish a clear policy for license renewal <br />so that all parties understand it. He then indicated that the City would be working on <br />drafting a liquor ordinance to eliminate these types of issues. <br /> <br />Vote: Aves - 3. Nays - 2(Council Member Nelson/Council Member Capra). Motion <br />carried. <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated that Council needed to act on Mr. DeFoe's application. <br /> <br />Motion bv Councll Member Nelson. seconded by Council Member Travis to <br />approve the renewal of the liquor. wine and club license for Waterworks Beach <br />Club. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. DeFoe indicated he had not gotten his information in on time. He then indicated that <br />when this happened he was disappointed about the lack of communication but noted that <br />since this happened he had learned his application was not complete and the City has <br />been working with him to expedite the renewal of his license. <br /> <br />Mr. DeFoe asked Council to make whatever improvements it could to the system to <br />eliminate the type of problems that happened this year. He indicated he had never <br />thought to put a Dill, either his or an employees, on the license application. He further <br />indicated that it was nicer when someone from the City would call and let him know <br />when there was a problem with his license. <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated she would fax the renewal to the State first thing in the <br />morning and ask that a license be faxed back to her. <br /> <br />2. Budget/Deferred Compensation/Union Contract (update) <br /> <br />Ms. Moore-Sykes indicated the auditor from Abdo, Eick and Meyer had been in the <br />office all day reviewing information and noted there should be a report available by <br />Monday for Council review. <br /> <br />Page 9 of24 <br />
