<br />Meeting held April 14, 1965. <br /> <br />The regular mon"bIlly maeting of the Village Counoil of the Villa.ge of Centervilla was <br />held at 8PM at the "li118,ge Hall s.t 8Pl!. Present were llnjTor Francis Burque, <br />Councilmen John Peterson, Melvin Dupre ~,nd Ceoil La Motte. Clerk FreJ! J. La Londe <br />and Treasurer Ruth Knabe. Also present were Roger Eappy, Carol Skiba, Marvin Rehbein <br />~r & Mrs Arnold Palmer, Mr & Nrs Lson Olson and Kasemer Dorscher. <br /> <br />( <br /> <br />"Minutes of meeting held on March 10tq were read and approved by motion of Cecil La Motte <br />seconded by John Peterson. Unfinished business of last meeting discussed.- Mayor <br />Burque stated he had talked to Wayne W9tter1ind again regarding policing and the DaFg <br />Catchers job. Wayne Watter1ind has definet1y resigned as constable but he and <br />Henry Leibel would take the dmg catchers job as soon as the 1965 dog tags were received <br />fran Charles Knabe. They will have the duties of issuring tags for 1965 and also <br />reoeiving the license fees. They will also pick up any dog not licensed. Fran <br />Burquel Mayor said that the Dmg situation at Hugo was also bad and that Russel La Motte <br />was having trouble wi1fu his impounding facilities. Mayor Burque is to look into this <br />as Centervi11e has been taking picked up dogs there for disposal or oare until recovered <br />by their owners. . Another prospect for Dchg catchers job is Harvey Cartier who said <br />he would take it if the Wetterlind and Leibel did not. <br /> <br />Mayor Burque brought up the matter of policing inasmuch ,as Centerville does not now <br />have a constable. He said he had had further talks with County officials regarding <br />a proposed round the clock policing of the Anoka squad cara that would inolude Centervil1, <br />It is in the proposal stage as yet but same system will be worked out where polioing <br />of this vioinity will be done. Other villages to be included in this plan and the <br />the cost to be' based on.a set ree pluS mileage. <br /> <br />. Kasemer Dorscher ownsr of the quonset buUding formerly owner by Joe Burque requested <br />'permission to tear down part of his building and rebuild enlarging the plaoe. He <br />stated he would build aocording to the builling code of Centerville. Motion made <br />by Cecil La Motte seconded by Peterson that he be permitted to tear down and rebuild <br />subjeot to approval by the Cantervilla Building inspeotor. <br /> <br />Leon Olson aooompanied by his wife who both reside at 747 Bayard str., st. Paul <br />requested permission to use the 20 acres awned by Leon Nadeau for wreoking cars and <br />selling the parts. Leon Olson aaid he would use the baok of the 20 acres for <br />burning and storing the wrecked oars. The matter of unsightlyness was brought <br />up espeoially or. the main street and the oouncil tabled the request until the next <br />lnaeting. <br /> <br />Gerald J. OBrien representing the North Central Public Service Co., requested that <br />Centervile grant his company a franchise to bring in natural gas to Centerville. <br />He stated that his canpany would pipe the gas to Centerville at no cost to Centerville. <br />He talked on the advantages of having gas available to Centerville and that he thought <br />the property valued might be inoreased because of it. He said his company would do <br />all the installing and hoo~ing up those who wished to use gas and that his oompany <br />l~) would do allththe billing a..'1d btUSiness portion ofpthe ope-dration.id ~e was askSfd if his <br />company was e sama company hat served Cirole ines an he sa not. One 0 these <br />present questioned the safety of gas telling of a number of explosions he had heard of. <br />~~ stated his oompany was subjaottto all state safety regulations. The oouncil <br />listned to Mr. OBrien and the fellow representatiVe who acoompanied him at some length <br />bu.t it was deoided to table the matter at least foal the present as theITil1age of <br />Centerville would like to study the matter more thoroughly before deoiding whether to <br />grant a franchise or not. He was told he would be invited to a later meeting. <br /> <br />Carol Skiba, Marvin Rehbein, Mr & Mrs Arnold Palmer appeared requesting the Village <br />Counoil to build or give permission to build a blaok top road on Peltier Drive - this <br />to be done by assessing the benefiting proparty holders who live on this road. They <br />stated 'that they had taken a census of the matter and that all were in fsvJr exoept <br />
