City of Centerville <br />City Council Meeting <br />June 25, 2008 <br />Motion by Mayor Capra, seconded by Council Member Lakso, to approve Items 1, <br />2, 3 and 4 of the Consent Agenda as presented. All in favor. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />VII. AWARDS/PRESENTATIONS/APPEARANCES <br />1. CERT Team Introductions <br />Councilmember Lakso announced that some members of the CERT Team were in the <br />audience. She asked the following members to stand as she introduced them: JoAnn <br />Nelson from Centerville, Nancy Fitzgerald from Centerville, Dennis Maki from <br />Centerville and Gina Paar from Centerville. <br />Councilmember Lakso stated that the CERT Team appreciated the support it received <br />from the City. She added that, from September 8 through November 10, they would be <br />recruiting for new members. There will be applications at the City Hall, on the web sites <br />and at other City Halls. <br />Councilmember Lakso invited the Council to ask questions. <br />Mayor Capra requested that City Administrator Larson put the photos on the screen. <br />Among the photos were pictures of the Final Disaster Scenario and the Graduation. <br />Councilmember Lakso stated that the CERT Team has the training they need to help save <br />lives. <br />Conversation ensued. <br />Mayor Capra stated that the Council would like to give them all a hand. In response, <br />those present applauded. <br />2. Centennial Lakes Police Chief Bob Makela - 2007 Annual Report <br />Police Chief Bob Makela reviewed highlights of the Centennial Lakes Police <br />Department's 2007 Annual Report. <br />Conversation ensued. <br />Chief Makela thanked the CERT Team members, and stated that he is proud of <br />Councilmember Lakso and thanked Council for the use of the City's house. <br />Chief Makela encouraged everyone to visit the Police Department's website and stated <br />that he is open for suggestions. He stated that the City of Centerville is an excellent <br />partner for the Police Department. He added that the Police Department is here to serve <br />the City. <br />Page 4 of 9 <br />
