City of Centerville <br />City Council Meeting <br />June 25, 2008 <br />Sgt. Pat Aldridge reviewed last month's police activities. Some of these included Police <br />Department tours with Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, the Centerville Elementary Carnival <br />and Parade, the Special Olympic Torch Run, and the Historical Society exhibit opening <br />in May. <br />Sgt. Aldridge reported that vandalism in the Skate Park was getting out of control; <br />however, there has been no vandalism since the Exhibition. He added that the police will <br />continue patrolling and will add a bike patrol. There was a rash of vehicle thefts after the <br />last City Council Meeting; however, these are being attributed to people leaving their cars <br />unlocked. He stressed that people should always lock their doors. <br />Conversation ensued regarding cases of possession of stolen property, a suspected <br />burglary attempt, and one tobacco compliance sale mishap. <br />Sgt. Aldridge announced that CSO Crimmins was hired as a full-time Police Officer. He <br />stated that Officer Clemens is very intelligent and a fast learner. <br />Sgt. Aldridge went on to discuss the numbers on the back of the business buildings and <br />the House Numbers Ordinance. <br />Sgt. Aldridge announced that Sgt. Blank finished training at the FBI Academy, and a <br />letter was received from the Academy regarding how well Sgt. Blank did and requesting <br />his assistance with their project. Sgt. Aldridge said the Police Department is very proud <br />of him. <br />Sgt. Aldridge reported that there were no DWI's over the last month, the police made 107 <br />traffic stops and issued 51 citations. He stated that their Department is third in the state <br />for their enforcement of seat belts. <br />ABDO, EICK & MEYERS, LLP - Mr. Steve McDonald (2007 Audit <br />Mr. Steve McDonald, from Abdo, Eick & Meyers, LLP, reported on the 2007 Audit. He <br />stated that good efforts were made by the City to address items from last year. He added <br />that there were a lot of changes because of new audit standards. <br />Mr. McDonald went on to review various items in the 2007 Annual Financial Report and <br />offered to answer any questions. <br />Mayor Capra inquired whether the Council had any questions. <br />Councilmember Paar commented that the report was pretty much "black and white," and <br />it is in language that is easy to read. <br />Page 5 of 9 <br />
