City of Centerville <br />City Council Meeting <br />July 23, 2008 <br />City Engineer Statz stated that the Church suggested putting the pond on park property. <br />He stated that would take a deeper and larger pond because it is further up grade. <br />Mayor Capra inquired whether they would we be further ahead by running water through <br />a treatment facility. <br />City Engineer Statz replied that it is not a water quality issue; it is a water volume issue. <br />He added that they will see a lot of these irrigation systems <br />Councilmember Paar stated that, if the Council approves, they need some sort of written <br />Agreement with St. Genevieve's Church. <br />City Administrator Larson replied that staff is working on that and would have the <br />Agreement before most of the funds are spent. <br />Motion by Council Member Lee, seconded by Council Member Paar, to Authorize <br />Engineering of Downtown Stormwater Improvements. Council Member <br />Broussard-Vickers abstained. Motion Carried (4/0). <br />IX. ANNOUNCEMENTS/UPDATES <br />1. City Administrator, Mr. Dallas Larson <br />City Administrator Larson stated that he wanted to remind the Council to look at the <br />concrete markups in the downtown area. <br />Discussion ensued regarding the colors of the markups. <br />Councilmember Paar stated that the color draws attention to the crosswalk. <br />City Engineer stated that the color coming into the downtown area makes traffic calmer <br />and drivers aware they are coming into the downtown area. <br />Mayor Capra stated that everyone on the Council should go over there and take a look. <br />City Administrator Larson reported that the new Public Works employee would start on <br />Monday, July 28. <br />2. Fete des Lacs <br />Mayor Capra reported that she talked to the Fire Chief to see if the Fire Station could be <br />open on Saturday, August 2, from 8:30 a. m. - 12:30 p.m., for kids to see the fire trucks. <br />She stated that she would be happy to be at the City Hall to keep it open, and they may <br />want Public Works to bring up a plow truck She added that, in the past, they have paid <br />for staff to be here on those days. <br />Page 7 of 9 <br />
