City of Centerville <br />City Council Meeting <br />October 8, 2008 <br />Councilmember Broussard-Vickers stated that she was not aware that a Special <br />Event/Noise Permit was ever issued before for an individual. <br />Councilmember Lakeo stated that this type of permit is utilized for events such as block <br />parties, outdoor events at the parks and liquor establishments. <br />City Administrator Larson replied that this could be done. <br />4. License Agreement for Use of GIS Database & License for Use of Digital Ortho & <br />Oblique Aerial Photographs o <br />City Administrator Larson reported that new photos would be provided. <br />Motion by Council Member Broussard-Vickers, seconded by Council Member Lakso, <br />to approve Items 3 and 4 of the Consent Agenda as presented. All in favor. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />VL AWARDS/PRESENTATIONS/APPEARANCES <br />1. Fire Chief Jerry Streich - (Fire Prevention Month Activities & Fire Fi'~hter <br />Recruitment) <br />Fire Chief Jerry Streich stated that Centennial Fire District 2 covers Centerville, Lino <br />Lakes and Circle Pines. He emphasized that October is Fire Prevention Month, and fire <br />officials will encourage citizens to focus on fire prevention. Fire prevention will also be <br />stressed in the schools. Fire Chief Streich stated that most fires occur during the winter <br />months, and over one-half of fire fatalities did not have working fire alarms. <br />Fire Chief Streich advised that a Recruitment Session will take place on Saturday, <br />November 1, at 9 a.m., at Centennial Fire District 2. Applicants must be 18 or older. They <br />will have a PowerPoint demonstration, fire fighters will be there to answer questions and <br />fire equipment will be available. Anyone interested can go to City website or call <br />Centennial Fire District 2. <br />2. Road Projects <br />Mayor Capra stated that businesses in the downtown area have taken a hit because of the <br />road projects. She suggested doing a promotional mailer to continue to keep citizens up- <br />to-date, advise them that these downtown businesses are open for business and encourage <br />citizens to once again come downtown. <br />VII.
