City of Centerville <br />City Council Meeting <br />November 12, 2008 <br />Councilmember Lee stated that this would require more work on CSAH 14, and it would <br />slow the current progress. He expressed concern for the businesses along CSAH 14. <br />City Engineer Statz stated that the Finance Director had a conversation with the County <br />Engineer who appeared to be in favor of the project. <br />Mayor Capra inquired whether this could be in conjunction with completing the remainder <br />of CSAH 14. <br />City Engineer Statz replied that it would be a separate bid process. <br />Councilmember Lee stated that if the tunnel was approved, it would be desirable to have <br />the City start with that before they finish the work on CSAH 14. <br />City Engineer Statz stated that there are a lot of timing issues that would need to be worked <br />out. <br />Discussion ensued. <br />Councilmember Paar stated that the City applied for this, knowing CSAH 14 was being <br />reconstructed. <br />Mayor Capra suggested that they can apply for and the grant, if it is approved, they could <br />then decide whether to accept it. <br />Motion by Council Member Paar, seconded by Council Member Lee, to approve Res. <br />#08-030 -Submission of Safe Routes to School Grant Application. All in favor. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />4. Res. #08-031 -Preliminary Action on the City's 2030 Comprehensive Plan <br />City Administrator Larson stated that there is a memo in the Council's packet, suggesting <br />the next steps regarding the City's 2030 Comprehensive Plan, and a Resolution has been <br />prepared. City Administrator Larson stated that, if the City gets their plan in before most <br />of the other communities, they should get it back quickly (March). He stated that they <br />could then hold a Public Hearing and take final action to approve the Plan.. <br />Councilmember Broussard-Vickers stated that she needs to disqualify herself from voting <br />on this because it would have an affect on her property. <br />City Attorney Glaser stated that this resolution would have a positive impact on <br />Councilmember Broussard-Vicker's property, so her vote would not count in the tally. It <br />would have to be approved at least 3 out of 4. <br />Mayor Capra stated that the City Council would like to thank Bonestroo's staff for <br />working with them.
