CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Capra called the December 2, 2008, Truth in Taxation meeting to order at 6:07 <br />p.m. <br /> <br />II. PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> <br />1. Truth and Taxation <br /> <br />Finance Director Meyer presented information on the 2009 General Fund Budget <br />and Tax Levy. He indicated the 2009 General Fund Budget and Tax Levy is <br />scheduled for adoption at the December 10, 2008 City Council meeting. The tax <br />rate for 2009 will be slightly lower for the city portion of the tax. He noted that <br />79% of the city budget is paid for by property taxes and that 44% of expenditures <br />are for public safety expenses. <br /> <br />The hearing was opened to public comment, the following persons offered <br />comments on the budget: <br /> <br />Robert Clasauson, 1688 Lakeland Circle, questioned the rise in his taxes when <br />the market value of his property is going down. <br /> <br />Mr Clauson was told that the city portion of his tax would be stable or lower if it <br />were not for increases in property value. The administrator will provide him with <br />the phone number for the city assessor. <br /> <br />Jesse Lang, 7048 Cottonwood Court, also questioned the valuation of his <br />property and the time frame to challenge the valuation assigned to his property. <br />
