<br /> <br />Household <br />Hazardous Waste <br />Collection <br /> <br />Anoka County is sponsoring a <br />household hazardous waste <br />collection and product exchange <br />for county residents on April 25 and <br />26 at Columbia Arena, 7011 University <br />Avenue N.E. in Fridley. Hours are Friday <br />from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from <br />9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Residents are advised to <br />arrive at the collection later in the day to <br />avoid the longest lines. <br />The collection allows residents to <br />safely dispose of leftover or unwanted <br />household chemicals at no charge. <br />Household hazardous waste includes <br />products that are flammable, toxic, or <br />corrosive such as pesticides, old gaso- <br />line, full or partially empty aerosol cans, <br />oil-based paint, solvents, driveway sealer <br /> <br />Clean Up and <br /> <br />Earth Day <br /> <br />Centerville will be <br />hosting the annual spring <br />Clean Up and Earth Day <br />on Saturday, April 19. <br />Clean Up begins at 9 <br />a.m., the celebration <br />begins at Wargo Nature <br />Center at 11 a.m. Call <br />Randy at City Hall with <br />any questions. <br /> <br />and <br />wood <br />preserva- <br />tives. <br />Prod- <br />ucts that <br />will not <br />be accepted include business or agricul- <br />tural waste, appliances, batteries, dried <br />paint, empty containers, radioactive <br />materials, tires, florescent lamps or uniden- <br />tified waste. For more information call <br />Anoka County Integrated Waste Manage- <br />ment at 323-5730. <br /> <br />Swim lessons Iii Anoka County <br /> <br />Swim lessons will be offered by the <br />Anoka County Parks and Recreation <br />Department for the summer school break. <br />Lessons will be taught in three separate, <br />two week sessions, five days per week. <br />The first class occurs July 21 to August <br />1. The second class is August 4 to 18, <br />and the third class is August 18 to 29. <br />Lessons start at 11 a.m. and lasts for 45 <br />minutes, with parent participation <br />required. Costs of the ten day sessions <br />will be $25 per student. Small class size <br />and late summer sessions will promote <br /> <br />warmer water and a higher rate of <br />certification. Sign up for all classes will <br />be at the following beaches during <br />regular lifeguard hours. Lessons will be <br />taught at Twin Lakes County Park, Lake <br />George Regional Park, Coon Lake <br />County Park, Centerville Lake and <br />Golden Lake County Park. The wave <br />Pool, located in Bunker Hills Regional <br />Park, will also offer lessons as they have <br />for the past eight years. The children's conference <br />will attract 3,000 participants to hear <br />professionals from many caring <br />communities - both inside and <br />outside of Anoka County - sharing <br />their efforts on the behalf of chil- <br />dren. They <br />need employment because they have <br />become widowed, divorced, sepa- <br />rated, or their spouse has become <br />disabled.
