<br />recommended or described as poorly suited due to slope steepness and the site's soil <br />characteristics, asmapped and described in available county soil surveys or other <br />technical reports, unless appropriate design and construction techniques and farming <br />practices are used in accordance with the provisions of this chapter. Where specific <br />information is not available, STEEP SLOPES are land having average slopes over 12%, <br />as measured over horizontal distances of 50 feet or more. <br /> <br />STORY. That portion of a building included between the surface of any floor and <br />the surface of the next floor above it, or if there is no floor above it, then the space <br />between the floor and the ceiling next above it. <br /> <br />STORY-HALF. That portion of a building under a gable, hip or gambrel roof, the <br />wall plates of which, on at least two opposite exterior walls, are not more than two feet <br />above the floor of the story. <br /> <br />STREET ACCESS. A public thoroughfare which affords the principal means of <br />abutting land. <br /> <br />STREET LINE. The legal line of demarcation between a street and abutting land. <br /> <br />STRUCTURAL ALTERATION. Any change in the supporting members ofa <br />building or structure, such as bearing walls, columns, beams or girders; provided, <br />however, the application of any exterior siding to an existing building for the purpose of <br />beautifying and modernizing shall not be considered a STRUCTURAL ALTERATION. <br />STRUCTURE. Anything constructed or erected, the use of which requires a <br />location on the ground or attached to something having a location on the ground, or an <br />attachment to something having a fixed location on the ground; including, in addition to <br />buildings, billboards, carports, porches, decks and other building features, but not <br />including sidewalks, drives, swing sets, enclosed play structures under 50 square feet, <br />fences and patios. <br /> <br />SUBDIVISION. See subdivision chapter. <br /> <br />SUPPLY YARD. A commercial establishment storing or offering for sale building <br />supplies, steel supplies, coal, heavy equipment, feed and grain and similar goods. <br />SUPPLY YARDS do not include the wrecking, salvaging, dismantling or storage of <br />automobiles and similar vehicles. <br /> <br />TOWNHOUSE. Single-family, attached units in structures housing three or more <br />continuous dwelling units, sharing a common wall, each having separate and individual <br />front and rear entrances; the structures being as of a row house type as distinguished from <br />multiple-dwelling apartment buildings. <br /> <br />TRA VEL TRAILERS. A mobile vehicle with wheels, designed for overnight living <br />or camping purposes, capable of being towed by a motor vehicle. <br /> <br />16 <br />
